OM is an independent non-sectarian forum for the education and promotion of Indian cultural heritage. Students, faculty, and all other members of the Carnegie Mellon community are welcome to join. OM provides spiritual assistance to Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and persons of other religious faiths. OM also provides opportunities for individuals to work and identify closely with the objectives and programs of Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and other religions of Indian origin.

The Executive Board Positions

The President is the leader of the organization, and his/her most important duty is to oversee the smooth running of the organization.  He/she organizes and conducts monthly General Body Meetings and weekly board meetings.

The Vice President serves as an intermediate between the President and the executive board.  He/she compiles the agenda before each meeting and holds a checklist of officer duties.  The Vice President assumes the roles of the President in his/her absence.

The Secretary takes minutes during all meetings and sends them out to the executive board.  He/she sends out all event emails to the distribution-list.  The Secretary is responsible for updating the member database and reserving all rooms as needed for events.

The Treasurer is responsible for all financial accounts, bills, and receipts.  He/she brings all financial decisions to the board.  The Treasurer must check the University Center Mailbox as well as handle reimbursements on a timely basis.

The Public Relations Chair is responsible for all aspects of advertising for all events.  He/she creates/updates posters, tickets, and the web page.  Knowledge of web page design is helpful, but not necessary.

The Networking Chair is responsible for acting as a liason between OM and other organizations in and around the Carnegie Mellon community. In addition, the Networking Chair is an integral part in the planning and execution of our annual events. The position requires excelled organizational and communication skills, as well as a creative and forward-thinking attitude.
